Well, I have been quiet for while because there will be some changes and new plans. After some serious thinking, I have decided to move out from here within a year or a year and half to a place where I can set roots and call home. It will be very difficult as I have no money at the moment but I'm determined to make it.
The thing is I have been working on a project for a while and I decided to give it a go and try to finish it, and see if I can make a living from it. I haven't spoken about the project before and I will keep it private till I am finished. I'm not sure if I will be able to make a living from it but if I do not try, I will not know, right?
I will not be planting a lot of veggies this year but rather getting them from local and small organic farms here, and I won't plant the berries garden or any fruit trees. I will just wait till I can have my own place. I think I will need to move into another country, as prices here in Italy are so high and there is no way I can afford to buy anything. It will be difficult and I'm very worried and scared of this new move but I have to do it. It will be into one of the ex Communist east European countries, as prices of rural houses with land are so cheap (just 3000 or 4000 euros!) Then I will look into renting a room or two for tourists and maybe doing some tours too; cooking for them organic food grown by me, etc. We shall see.
I will keep blogging about my sustainable life here and my new plans.
Please wish me luck :)

Hello! re: Browsers -- Which one do you currently use? Safari is the one that comes automatically installed on Apple computers. You can just do a search for 'Google Chrome' or 'Firefox', and you should easily find the link to download either of those. I'd start with Chrome, since, as I said before, I wasn't 'allowed' to download the new Firefox on my older Mac. You just download it and install it like any other program, and then you can use it to go to your Yahoo mail instead of Safari (if that's what you're using now). Fingers crossed that that does the trick!
ReplyDeleteHi Anna, I use Safari, as you said it came automatically installed with Apple Mac.
DeleteTo be honest with you, I have a kind of phobia regarding computers and technologies in general. I tend to freak out and get panicky! not user-friendly.
I think downloading should be easy, just click on download, right? But can you please tell me how to install it like any other program? Sorry that might so stupid but I'm really hopeless with technology.
I will also see if I can find anyone who uses Apple Mac and can help me, though it will be difficult. most people use Microsoft; and going to the nearest town to look for Apple shops is not easy at all for me.
This whole thing has come in a very crucial time for me, as I really need to use the email for important stuff.
Anyway, thank you very much Anna and so sorry for the trouble.
Cyrene
Once it's downloaded, double click it to open it up. I don't know what it'll look like exactly. Macs will often pop up with a window that has the program icon and the Applications folder icon, and you have to drag the program icon into/onto the Applications folder icon, and it'll install it. If there's anything else you need to do, instructions will come up on the screen. Once it's installed, you can just open it up (either by opening up the Applications folder and looking for it or by typing command-space and searching for Chrome), and you should be good to go.
DeleteThanks Anna, tried and installed it and dragged it to Application. When I tried to open it I got this message: You can't use this version of the application Google Chrome with this version of Mac OS X ?
DeleteShoot! I was hoping Chrome might work. With my older Mac, I've been unable to download a newer version of Firefox or Safari -- the operating system (OS) is just too old, and the computer is too old to handle a newer version of the OS. They're basically forcing you to buy a new computer if you want to keep using their software.
DeleteAnother thought I had last night was whether you could use the Mac 'Mail' app to fetch your Yahoo mail. I have no experience first hand setting that up, but here's a tutorial that might work: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mac-mail-apple-osx-sln4746.html I'm not sure which version of OS X you're using, but hopefully the instructions would be similar.
Thank you Anna for your kind help, I do appreciate it very much. You are right, they are forcing me to buy a new one but I won't. and even if I buy a new laptop, which is not possible anyway, it won't be apple; they will just lose a customer. I opened a new email with hotmail which I can access and use! And will try to move all my contacts there. It is hard but I will do my best.
DeleteAlso, today I spoke with a young lady who brings me milk from their little organic farm once a week and she said that she might be able to help me. She will come when she has time to have a look. She has just got her university degree in computer programming, I think. So, fingers crossed she can figure our what is the problem.
I will tell her about Mac Mail app; I'm sure she can help with that. Thanks a lot Anna, I will keep you posted if I manage to resolve the problem.
It works, yaya! I opened it 2 days ago and it worked! I'm pleased that I don't have to spend any money on it. Thanks Anna for your help. :)
DeleteDear Cyrene, good luck! I'll wait your news.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much dear Ely, yes I will keep you posted, when I have new news :)
