summer fruits

Ok, I havent posted for a while as I was overwhelmed with summer and heat. Now, it is cooling down a bit and that is great. All the veggies in my little farm died! I do not know what was the problem; I guess an insect ate the roots.

On a lighter note, we are having figs galore these days; I mean I befriended lots of fig trees and they have been so generous with me and every time I pass-by they would insist that I fill my basket with their morsels of pure deliciousness. Of course, I happily oblige, haha.

Anyways, so I have been popping these morsels of sensual deliciousness into my mouth , pop, pop, pop, like candy; no, no, I do not like candy, like popcorn. Then yesterday I decided to turn them into a tasty dish of pure yummy-ness: roasted figs filled with ricotta cheese, drizzled with pure honey and sprinkled with toasted pine nuts. Yum, yum. Well, so far, so bad, I mean good. I started to half the figs and to my horror I discovered that many of them, not all, have little white yucky wiggly creatures inside. Yup, little disgusting worms, hehe. So, not only I have been eating figs but consuming worms as well, yum :D Well, I’m glad to report that I discovered the offending tree and I’m going to boycott her, I mean it.

Figs are like prickly pears, Hindi (see photo), you either love them or hate them. I LOVE them both.
