Hot, hot, hot!

Well, I have made lots of changes since I took this photo in Spring. That ugly sofa is not longer there and the table has moved into another part, though my bike Farara still residing in the same spot :) and yup that is me in the mirror!

Well, I haven't been blogging regularly, as always you might say, hehe, due to many things but the main one is due to the fact that I don't have internet at home and I have to rely on some bad wireless connections at cafes. The second reason is the extreme heat wave we are having is not ideal for biking for 40 mins to the nearest town, right? So, instead, I spend most of my days cocooned in my cool place (it is more than 300 years old farm house and no I don't have all the place for myself; I have just a flat but it is spacious and lovely because it is sort of basement but not really. Let me explain. Old Italian farm houses have the basement made in a way that part of it is covered and the other wall or part is exposed to the sun and it has its own entrance because, many years ago,  they used that part of the house to keep their livestock. Yup, you heard me right, they kept their animals close to them so that they will generate heat on the long harsh winter days and also to keep and eye on them, plus it is easier to milk and feed them in freezing winters.)

Anyway, I have that part of the house and it is cool and lovely and I spend my days reading, eating, feeding the cats (15 plus my two. Of course they do not live inside my flat, just Luna and Kiwi. More of this in another post, promise) and cooking and the rest :)

But to be honest it is so hard to be living without internet at home; I lived for 3 years without a washing machine and it was fine (just had a brand new one few weeks ago ) Before I used to get internet through using internet key but in this place I do not get any reception. so, I spoke to the owners of the house and they kindly agreed to install internet for me, yahoooo! Even though I do not pay them any rent for this beautiful flat! But this is another story to be told in another day :) So, stay tuned and before I leave you, here are two photos of my flat, see above, and the other, my two kitties Kiwi and Luna lounging on the windowsill.
Luna striking a pose, while Kiwi is appreciating the beautiful scenery. Naughty boy :-0

  1. Hi Cyrene, Hot and dry here as well...I live in Illinois..some of the most fertile soil in the world but it doesnt produce much without h20. Farmers are predicting about half a crop this year..Yikes!!!catfood is going to get pricey..stock up now...took a road trip down to my place in the Ozarks last week..200 yo oak trees victims of the drought...very sad very very sad...some of those trees have withstood lots of adverse weather (and been around for a lot of history to unfold) Love your new flat..looks like Kiwi and Luna do as well.

  2. Thanks David,
It is very sad indeed; we are having another heat wave 107 for a week now and it is going to be like this for the rest of the month; I know everything is going to go up and we, those with limited incomes, will suffer the most.

It is very sad and depressing but what can we do apart from carrying on and hoping and praying for rain.

Yea Kiwi and Luna love the flat and do their best to destroy every single indoor plant I have :)

From next Monday I will have internet at home, yahoo, and blogging will be on a full swing, I promise. First was the washing machine (I lived without one for more than 3 years) and now after many years of walking or riding my bike for a long distance to get internet connection, I will have internet installed. Fingers crossed please that it goes well :)
