The best things are the unplanned ones: A happy Day

This is the primitive snowman I made two days ago :)

This morning at 7am I went to the nearby town to get some  veggies from a farmer who has a small organic farm and who grows stuff one can not find here in Italy, like Brussels sprouts, Jerusalem artichoke, and swede, which I love, love.

Well, first I got an unexpected lift to the town to arrive to a nice surprise. The farmer has brought me 2 kilos of Brussels sprouts and Jerusalem artichoke, as people do not eat them here!

Then, I met a friend for a coffee and organic brioche :)

Returned home for lunch and devoured the rest of rez imbawakh, steamed rice with vegetable stew, I made few days ago.

At 3.30 pm I decided to pay my friend Ina a visit. When I arrived to the main road where my mailbox is, I was greeted by another surprise! Two packages were sitting under the tree waiting for me. One from my friend Laila in the US and the other from my friend Ivonne in London UK. I was extremely delighted. At Ina's home I wast treated to a nice cup of coffee and a warm chat. Then she sent me off with a beautiful jar of home-pickled olives with orange, garlic, and wild fennel, Ina made herself! What a wonderful gift!

On my way to my humble abode I met my friend Stella's husband. I greeted him and stood talking to him. Then he said: Oh, I want to give you your Christmas gift! And he pulled out an organic rooster/pollo, he got from a local farmer. It was cleaned and cut into two halves.

I floated home, on cloud nine :)  What a beautiful day!

About Me

I left my well paid job to pursue a life as an off grider, living off the land, eating only seasonal and local food; growing my own food, raising checkins for eggs. I live on a very little money but I'm happy and content. Never been this happy before. Welcome to my world.
